Toshiba 5105-S501, Mandrake 9.2, Sound Problems

Whats up everyone,

I've been trying for about a week now to get sound working on my Toshiba Satellite 5105-S501. I've tried Mandrake 9.2, Mandrake 10 Beta 2, Fedora Core 1, Red Hat 9 and now im back too Mandrake 9.2. I basically get the same problem under the 2.4 Kernel and the 2.6.2 Kernel.

Whenever I actually get the sound to work its VERY choppy and my CPU usage goes up to 100% completely rendering my system useless until the sound is stopped.

My laptop is equipped with a AC 97 Audio. Driver is i810_audio.

If anyone has an leads to fix this problem, please help!

Thanks in advance.

So I have been reading guide for my Laptop Model specifically and I seem to have narrowed down the problem to some sort of IRQ/ACPI problem (yes they are connected).

Sound
According to lspci, the sound card has device ID 8086:2445 (Intel 820) and is on 00:1f.5.
According to the specs sheet, the sound card is AC '97 2.2 compliant and uses a Yamaha YMF-753.
According to Windows, the sound card is a Yamaha AC-XG.

Whatever it is, there is no way to get the BIOS to route the IRQ for it. This laptop uses ACPI to do IRQ routing and unfortunately Linux doesn't officially support this yet.

However, the ACPI4Linux Project is working on it, and you can get sound working by applying the latest ACPI patches.
