Tornado Notebook Chill Pad for Linux Laptop

I have an Avertec laptop that runs Ubuntu and it gets a bit hot. In fact, it gets so hot there are cracks starting to appear near the LCD, and I think it is from the heat.

I was thinking of getting Tornado Chill Pad for it.

Has anyone used or seen one of these in action? It is USB powered so it should work under Linux, right?

I'd find the root of your overheating problem, rather than trying to fix it with external third party products. Check your fans, check the bios, see if there's anything wrong with the way acpi is managing your power.

You should find out why it is overheating.
These also work good and you can get them cheap
