Thinkpad W540. can't control fan speed using thinkfan.

Hello all,

I am currently using thinkfan 0.9.1 on Linux Mint 17.1 and I can't control the speed of the fan.

My file configs so far;
in /etc/thinkfan.conf, This is the config file,
Code:
hwmon /sys/devices/platform/coretemp.0/temp1_input

(0,	0,	55)
(1,	48,	65)
(2,	65,	67)
(3,	67,	69)
(4,	68,	71)
(5,	70,	73)
(7,	72,	84)
(127,  	80,	108)
I also tried sensor instead of hwmon in the first line.

This is the file in /etc/modprobe.d/thinkfan.conf,
Code:
options thinkpad_acpi fan_control=1
This is the file /etc/default/thinkfan;
Code:
START=yes

# Additional startup parameters
DAEMON_ARGS=
When starting thinkfan using thinkfan -n, it outputs
Code:
WARNING: Using default fan control in /proc/acpi/ibm/fan.

WARNING: You're using simple temperature limits without correction values, and your fan will only start at 55 °C. This can be dangerous for your hard drive.

sleeptime=5, tmax=49, last_tmax=49, biased_tmax=49 -> fan="level 1"
and the fan speed does not correspond with the levels in /etc/thinkfan.conf.
And after running the command sudo /etc/init.d/thinkfan start, the fan speed also fails to correspond with the settings in /etc/thinkfan.conf.

I am also unable to adjust the fan speed using
Code:
echo level 0 | sudo tee /proc/acpi/ibm/fan
, the fan temporarily stops far about 30 seconds before spinning up again.

I reinstalled Linux Mint a month ago and
Code:
echo level 0 | sudo tee /proc/acpi/ibm/fan
worked but my thinkfan.conf file didn't seem to do anything for the fan speed.

I have tried to reinstall thinkfan but the same results occur.

Does any one have any solutions?
Thanks
