thinkpad keyboard problem.

I have a thinkpad labtop. For some reason, the key J becomes "1", Key "K
" become "2" and so on.

I tried NUMLk key, but it does not fix it.

I don't know why it did that. It is probably simple to fix it, but I couldn't find information on the Internet.

Aren't these the numpad using fn key?
AFAIK you can disable this using fn + a Fx key.
Look in the manual from the laptop.

Depending on the TP model probably shift+ScrLk

But with Suse/KDE (at least on my TPs) it doesn't work insofar as with that numlock "on" the num pad keys give no input - i.e. numlock off, k=k, numlock on, k= no input and not the expected 2.

ufmale, which distro & wm are you using?
