Thinkpad 570E won't Boot from CDROM

I am trying to boot Fedora Core 4 CD or DVD on a Thinkpad 570E. The updated BIOS does allows booting from CDROM, however, the 570E has no internal CDROM and must connect via a PCMCIA IDE card. As a result, it does not see the CDROM on boot. It also will not recognize a USB 2 card with a DVD drive.

Can anyone tell me if and how I can boot from a floppy just to get access to the PCMCIA card connected devices to start installation?

Read the Fedora install docs. They will explain how to create a boot floppy which can be used to boot the system, then you can tell Fedora where the cdrom is, and do the actual install.

Also check out "alternative install" for other ideas to get around your problem...
