ThinkPad 560z and ALSA problems
When I had kernel 2.6.7 running, ALSA sound worked fine for Laptop. But since upgrading to 2.6.8.1 I can no longer get sound to work.
Machine: IBM ThinkPad 560z
Sound Card: ? When it was working ALSA thought it was a Cirrus cs4236 ISA card
Distro: Debian Sarge
Kernel: 2.6.8.1
ALSAConfig: 1.0.8
I've tried using the kernel-image-2.6.8.1 from Debian Sarge. But it won't detect my sound card.
I've recently downloaded the kernel-source-2.6.8.1, compiled with all sound cards as modules. I'm assuming alsaconf will ask the kernel to load the module for the correct sound card when it does it's "detection" thing. Though I could be wrong. I don't really know how the correct sound-card module is detected and when it is run.
I test for sound with XMMS, and it chugs my system when it gets loaded, then returns an error telling me no module or something.
Anyway, any suggestions would be helpful.
