dv1000? no problem!

I have an HP dv1000, and I haven't really had any problems with it. I installed both Ubuntu and Slackware 10.2 without any issues. I'm about to install Gentoo here shortly, but I don't think I'll have any issues. The only issues I've had are my firewire not working, which is due to me being too dumb/lazy to recompile/update my kernel, and my built-in SD card reader not working. I have no clue how to do that one, though.

As long as you keep 208M (maybe 204M..) free when you partition your hd, you can keep the autoplay feature. However, you cannot put it on a logical partition, as the installer looks for free space that isn't already within a partition. The media keys and remote also work with xmms so long as you have the IR and media keys plugins enabled.
