Text console problem with Dell inspiron 2650


I have just installed Redhat 9 on my Dell Inspiron 2650 and updated vNidia drivers from
Then I have problem with the text consoles after installing the nVidia drivers : while running X, if I do the CTRL+ALT+F1 to use a text terminal, the sreen goes black and the system halts completely! (I cannot even go back to X)

Here are some info from my XF86config:

I had the same problem on my Inspiron2650. I run Debian3.0-Testing.

The nvidia drivers just gave me hell, so i went back to the generic nv drivers, but even that has problems. I can't exit the x-server at all... argh

were you able to exit the x with ctl-alt-f 1-6?
