switchable gpu's/optimus and kms.

Hi. I would like to know some things about switchable gpu's (a.k.a optimus):
1) Does optimus work with AMD/Intel gpu combos (like what this Sony laptop have)?
2) Does KMS work with this setups (and how it does)?
3) Do I need to have the opensource drivers on the ATI/NVidia gpu for KMS to work, or can it work if the ATI/NVidia gpu uses the propietary driver?
Thanks.

I think that you may have to use the opensource driver.
