Suspend on lid close works in kde but not gnome. fedora core 6 on dell inspiron 5100

hello.

i've just installed a fresh copy of fedora core 6. works very well on my dell inspiron 5100 laptop.

i was very happy to find that the suspend option when i close the laptop lid works in kde 'out of the box'. however, this option doesn't work in gnome. why would that be? any fixes?

just a small update. i've discoverd that suspend will occur after a delay when i close the lid. how comes there's a delay? what can i do to make it suspend immediately? if i select suspend from the gnome 'System' menu it suspends strait away.
