Suspend/Hibernate Problem Sony Vaio
I have a new Sony Vaio (VGN-FZ140E) and have just put Ubuntu 7.10 on it. Everything is great and I love using Ubuntu except the fact that I cannot suspend or hibernate the computer. When I suspend or hibernate the computer it does "turn off", but I cannot turn it back on. After pressing the 'on' button several times, it turns on but has rebooted!
I cannot live without this functionality and am afraid, if not resolved, I will have to go back to Vista. Help me! Frank |
hibernation
i had this problem once (though i run suse on my laptop), and it only resolved after i went into power management and messed around there ... if memory serves right, there is a menu in yast's power mgmt that lets you determine what happens when you close the lid ... also: make sure that the permissions are extended: sometimes you can do things on the root side, but not on the general user side ... let me know, whether you make it work this way ... i hate to see you having to bow to vista ...
