Suspend doesn't work on any linux distro

(Sorry for my english errors but i'm italian; ask me if you don't understand and i'll try to repeat)

I'm currently using Ubuntu 9.10, but i tried with ZenWalk, Fedora, Debian, Centos and others.
I've an ASUS X51RL, 2gb ram, dual core 1,6GHz, Ati Radeon XPRESS 1100.

The problem is as simple as annoying. I can suspend the sistem (StandBy), but when i try to wake it up, the screen remains black (it doesn't switch on).
I can try to press all the keys, but nothing changes, so i must reset the computer holding down the power button.

Do you have any idea? Thank you in advance

Hello,

You're English is definitely good enough. Don't worry too much about that. You have gotten your message through in a very understandable format.

Now addressing the issue;
We'll need more information to diagnose potential errors in your configuration. The output of the command "dmesg", or the log file at '/var/log/dmesg.log' after a failed resume would be most beneficial. This will allow us to see the what errors the Linux kernel is reporting. Please post this file as an attachment, as it can be very large on some systems. Next, the log file at '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' after a failed resume can help us diagnose potential errors with your X server and perhaps if hal or dbus is started upon resume. This one should be an attachment too. Can you Ctrl+Alt+Fx your way out of the situatuion? Is the screen actually off, or just black? This is all very useful information!

Regards

Question suspend question

Suspend to RAM
or
Suspend to Disk

=> big difference (in my case (PCLinuxOS beta 2) suspend to RAM works without any problem!)

I think is Suspend to RAM, but i'm not sure.
Suspend to Disk is "Hibernate"?

@Leopard
TY for the answer. I noticed another problem. After i had tried to wake up the pc (and rebooted) the screen remained switched off. The screen never wake up, also after 500 reboots. I need to remove for some seconds the battery and reboot again.

I've attached the 2 files you request, i have had to change the extension in .txt otherwise i can't upload them.
Thank you again for help, in italian forum no one could help me.
