Suse10.2 on Vista on Dell Inspiron 9400
Hi all
I want to install Suse10.2 on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. This is to allow us to run opensource GIS software GRASS and QGIS on the laptop which currently has Vista installed. I'm not concerned that Suse wont run since I've tried it from a live CD and it goes. However what worries me is how Vista will react. The HD is partitioned : sda1 fat16 86mb poss a utility partition?? boot partition?? Diagnostic partition ?? sda2 ntfs 10Gb Recovery partition? sda3 ntfs 137Gb Vista sda4 Extended partition sda5 fat32 2Gb This is a "Media Direct" partition which boots seperatly from Vista via a seperate power button. So questions 1) Have I got the partition functions right? 2) If I reduce sda3 , move sda5 and create sda6 for suse will I get a lot of grief from Vista? 3) To boot Vista after the installation do I point lilo at sda1? all comments and suggestions greatfully received:) Hugh PS If this is the wrong forum please redirect me.
