SuSE Has Patch for Radeon IGP/Mobility U1 Cards

I'm leaning more towards SuSE as a platform of choice since it they seem bent on releasing patches and drivers for new devices between major releases.

Has a update for XFree86 that will support the Radeon IGP based chipsets used in the newest laptops. I gues they are standing behind their "Optimized for Laptops" claim on the box. So I guess after this it's SuSE for the laptop.

I installed SuSE 8.2 on my Compaq Presario 2170 with no problems. I did disable legacy usb support in the bios before installing.
The only extra work required was making the appropriate links for the dvd/cdrw drive to play dvd's and getting my Netgear wireless card working.
I have noticed that many of the problems reported here seem to be with RedHat. That may be because it is the most used distro, but SuSE and Mandrake seem to be easier to install.
