SUSE 9.3 - Toshiba Portege 3440ct Install

Hard drive transplant install:

I took a 10GB hard drive and installed it on my IBM T41 laptop.
Popped in the SUSE 9.3 install DVD and loaded it.
After I let it find all the hardware and settings but IGNORED IT! I added one user ID and shut the laptop down.

Then I took the hard drive and installed it on my Toshiba
Portege 3440ct.
This laptop does not have a cd-rom so this is how I loaded it.

HOWEVER, when I booted up, it went to the command line and I was able to log in.

1. How do I get SUSE to re-configure and search for all the hardware?

2. How can I have it boot to the GUI instead?

Suse searches for the hardware at boot. How did it work?
It is trying to boot the gui, but nothing is configured, so it can't.

Login as root and type yast. Go through every hardware setting and configure it.
Keep in mind that what you did is a kludge. Have fun!
