I have tried to install Suse 9.2 Prof. into my Acer Aspire 1307 laptop.
Every time the installation freezes on some point in YAST instaling packages. It is not any specific package. I have tried both, DVD and CD.
This PC was running fine with Suse 9.0 and 8.2. I have a dual boot with Win2000 and Grub as boot manager.
Can anyone help me out or did anyone have similar problems?
This problem is now fixed. I just installed (continued the installation) for about six to seven times, always installing more packages. Also I got msg for about every other package that installation failed for which I responded by ignore.
I then run rpmdb --rebuilddb and after that packages started to install OK.
I'm up and running now. No Wifi though, seems that my Linksys WPC54G card is not supported, even tried with NdisWrapper.
I have the same problem on my Compaq Presario 1200 series, except it freezes when partitioning the drive (Windows ME) at some point I got it to complain about a drive error, and it said to run scandisk in windows. I did that and I defraged, but no luck. It gets to 40% and copies the directories, but it slows down, and keeps getting slower, until like 7 hours later when it come to a total halt: still at 40%. Any ideas?
I installed 9.2 and a few earlier versions of SuSE pro. I was surprised that at one point in the 9.2 install I had to wait about 10 minutes for there to be visible signs of progress.
