suse 9.1 personal on dell c400 latitude
Hi all, as a (almost) converted linux person i am experiencing a few problems on my laptop.
I note from the forum that i am not alone...like most others i am having problems with my modem settings. I can use my modem when i use win 2000 (also installed in my laptop) but when in 9.1 the icon shows software trying to make a connection and then stopping. No error messages appear so i think it may be a settings problem. When configuring, the software detects the modem hardware but i am still getting nothing.
every time i start 9.1 a message appears telling me sizes for the screen resolution were not detected when i finish and finalise the settings the pc doesn't seem to remember it. there is actually nothing wrong with the screen settings but i would like the message to dissappear.
as the cd drive and floppy drive are accessed through a scsi cable on the side of the dell latitude is there any settings/ info on a setup which recognises each drive if you want to switch between them? at the moment i have to restart the laptop each time i want to change them?, or would i be better off buying a usb hub to put everything through?
I am as you may guess i am total novice with operating systems but any help would be appreciated. If i can sort these problems out i would gladly make the move to linux permanent..... thanks
