Suse 9.1 Linux on Toshiba laptop

Hello,

I'm very new in the 'Linux world' and I have just put Linux on my Toshiba Satellite A60-723 laptop. It is working, but some drivers are not recognised, like:

my graphic driver: ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP (RS 250 M)
my soundcard: Realtek ALC-250
my modem: Agere v.90

Does anyone have any idea where to download drivers???

hmmm the radeon should have been detected but that no problem. try www.ati.com they will have the driver for sure. also try http://linux.toshiba-dme.co.jp/linux/index.htm will definitely fine some linux toshiba stuff there. best way to go about it is to try Yast-> system . there u have a lot of graphical setup tools u can use.

you'd better stay away from ATI drivers unless you like crashes and all kind of artefacts and scrambled screens.

luckily, ATI doesn't respond to any mail

Linux and ATI Radeon mobility

Hi,

Does somebody know whether Suse Linux 9.0 or 9.2 support these three cards:
ATI mobility Radeon 7000 IGP ?
To be installed on a Toshiba Satellite A60-145
and
ATI radeon 9700 mobility?
To be installed on a FUJITSU/SIEMENS Amilo 1424
and
ATI Mobility Radeon 9200
To be installed on a Sony Vaio PCG K 315 S

I need to by a laptop and I am not able to get these informations
nor from Linux support nor from ATI support...

Thank you
Nell

How about...

Forget ATI, go nVidia instead. Use ATI if you're prepared to use Windows.

correct. ATI has some better drives nowadays, but still problems (sound skips) and the fact that with the uniwillfujitsu thing it still doesn't work due to the size of the screen.
