Getting there

things a looking slightly up, less errors, but still not working. im not sure whether these lines are correct or not. hwscan only displays help options
Computer is a Toshiba 1410 Laptop.. the printer port was working in windows and other distros i installed, so im sure it's enabled in the bios.

/etc/modules.conf < snips..... also i didn't know what the protocol is/was
so i've tried.. 'frpw' 'lp0' and 'lpr'

########################################################################
# For parallel port devices, uncomment the following two lines and
# change "frpw" to the protocol type you use
########################################################################

post-install paride insmod lpr
pre-remove paride rmmod lpr

/~~/

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=none
# If you have multiple parallel ports, specify them this way:
# options parport_pc io=0x378,0x278 irq=none,none

Any help would be good.. also this laptop has:
1 Parallel Port
1 TV out port
3 USB ports
1 external moniter port

And after i get this working.. onwards to cry some more over the internal modem.. thats detected, similar probs.. BLOODY RAM EATING MICRO XP SHITs

in modules.conf try this:

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
# options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=none

comment out line 2

then check bios settings (parport enabled ? io address ? etc )

reboot linux

check the output of the "dmesg" command
