Unhappy Suse 9.0 ATI Mobility Radeon M7 problem

Hello all,

I have a HP xz133 laptop and installed is the ATI mobility radeon m7 but when I installed suse 9.0 it dose not support 3d hardware acc and shows it as a Radeon LW. I was wondering if maybe someone who had this particular model or maybe could help I been looking all over the net and find some help not none were sucsessful. I don't see it listed in SuSe database the new up date says it has a driver for m9 but where did m7 go? if someone could shoot a link I would be thankful or help me out some keeping in mind I am very new at using any distro and this is my first

Thankyou for your help

It probably tried to install the fglrx drivers. Have you tried to use the in-kernel DRI drivers (CONFIG_AGP, CONFIG_DRM and CONFIG_DRM_RADEON)?

What do u mean?

by the way i have an ATI Radeon IGP 340M, and it recognises it but also there is no 3d acceleration available, which i know. I know at bugzilla they are working on some patches but in the 4.4 release of Xfree86 there wont be a fix because feature freeze is over so i guess I'll just have to wait,... anybody got any suggestions for me? please

Lightbulb hm

I too have the Radeon m7. Can't wait to go home and try it as a 7500.

Thanks.

Has anybody run into any problems after switching this?

Talking nice

Switched to Radeon 7500 changed to 1600x1200 with 24bit color and enabled 3D acceleration. Everything is working pretty good. No problems what so ever.
