suse 10.1 hpzd8000 ndiswrapper 1.23 broadcom 4318 wireless problem


Alright.. I have SuSE 10.1 installed on a HP Pavilion ZD8000 laptop
with the following:

hpzd8k:/home/chad # iwconfig wlan0 essid XXXX
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; No such device.
hpzd8k:/home/chad # ifup wlan0
Interface wlan0 is not available
hpzd8k:/home/chad # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

hpzd8k:/home/chad # ifconfig

I have tried everything and cannot get it to work.. anyone else use this card?

i have other laptop and other card. but i had the similar problem. my experience may be helpful for you.

when i put /sbin/modprob ndiswrapper line at begining of /etc/rc.d/rc.modules that the problem is solved. i do not know why but it's a fact.
if you dont have such file in suse you need to find simililar file at your system. rc.modules is a file which loads kernel modules during start up stage.
