Speaker problem with Pavillion dv5 1040ev.

I have installed slackware 12.1 on my laptop dv5 1040ev but i cannot get the onboard speakers to work. I do not think that it is an alsa problem since the jacks are working fine when i plug in headphones. Any others having the same problem? Where should i start looking for a solution?

What kind of speakers? Audio card?

Well i just upgraded to slack current (kernel 27.6) an it is working now. I have to solve some other problems now but i suppose they have to go in an other thread.
