sound on toshiba laptop running ubuntu 11.04 high pitched

I am running ubuntu 11.04 (natty)
kernel 2.6.38-10 generic
GNOME 2.32.1
on a Toshiba Satellite A-100-250 laptop.

For unclear reasons the sound, when using a radioplayer in the Chrome browser has higher pitch than on analog radio.

How can I solve this?

first of all, you should install a current linux distro. ubuntu is at 14.04 LTS these days.
if you need something more lightweight, use xubuntu 14.04 LTS or a different distro altogether, e.g. linux mint, which has been nr. 1 for years anyway; maybe the mate desktop.

after that, we can start troubleshooting your problem, if you still have it then.

really, it sounds like an awful lot to ask right now, but in the long run you'll save much more time than it takes to do that.

apart from that, it's hard to help you with such an outdated system, that may or may not have been running updates.

Thanks for the reaction.
Sorry, I was unable to reply due to health reasons the last week or so.
I will look into xubuntu 14.04.

Meanwhile, using Firefox eliminates the problem...
