Sound on an Armada 1750 with FC3

Hi all,

I've installed Fedora Core 3 on an Compaq Armada 1750 and most of the stuff is up and running. One thing that I can't get to work is the soundcard which is an ESS1689.

I've done lots of search to get it working and also tried to use the sndconfig that Red Hat offers.
But sndconfig doesn't work on Fedora Core 3 as it says that soundcore.o doesn't exist. Which is true since FC3 names it soundcore.ko.

I also see that the soundcard isn't picked up during boot (I've checked dmesg). And there is not sign for it in /etc/modprobe.conf.

Are there any tools to get this working?

Another thing, but that can be another thread, is to get the infrared to work.

Yours,
Trond.
