Angry Sound card trouble. . ..

Her is the problem. I have a laptop, Packard Bell iGo 3000 series.
It has a ali/soundmax soundcard installed.
(Or at least that is what windows says) In mandrake 9.X i had this problem that when i'm playing any song of my playlist i would always get this "High freq" sound every 10 seconds. Then i tryed to install SuSE 9.X and then the sound worked perfectly. Now, i'm tyring out this XandrOS 2.0 and of course i get the same problem with the sound as in mandrake 9.X.
I can hear the song until the high freq noice before it goes back to the song again. so it goes on and on. . . It is getting me pissed and as i am a newbie to linux i belive that you experts out there would have more trouble guiding me trough the process then me actually solving the problem.

Is there any DMA i could change? or IRQ maybe?
Any simple change to the soundcard settings at all?
I've tried to change something without knowing waht i was doing but then KDE "hangs" in startup so i would have to reinstall xandros.

Please help me, anyone???

Romeo.

Sounds like the card is being mis configured in mandrake and xandros and correctly configured in suse, I don't suppose you looked at the suse config when you had it installed?
If not all you need to do is boot a suse evaluation live cd, it won't harm your xandros install and it should show you what suse is doing with the sound card.
