sound card not working on acer extensa 5630EZ with RHEL5

Hello guys,

i am having trouble setting up sound to work on this laptop acer extensa 5630EZ. i installed real player , it can execute video files and mp3 , but there is just no sound output. i ve looked around for drivers but in vain . i think there is a problem with the sound card .. any help on how to fix it ....

masonm , i dont yet know the name or model of the onboard sound card , is there a command i can get the system to check if it is present ?
