Sound card hanging up, or xmms trouble?

Hi,

Im using redhat 9.0 on my Acer TravelMate 800, and Im having trouble with my sound card.

When I do sound card detection, it says I have

Vendor: Intel Corp.
Model: 82801DB AC'97 Audio
Module: i810_audio

The XMMS version I am using is:
XMMS 1.2.7

Sometimes when Im using XMMS to play a song, after a while, the song stops playing and there are no more sounds. I try to close xmms but it doesnt close, so I use system monitor to close it, and then i try to open it again, and it doesnt work anymore.

Only way I can get it working again is if I reboot my machine, but then it can possibly break again...

I have the same problem on 9.1 SuSe and xmms 1.2.10

P.S. found this on xmms FAQ list

My XMMS don't output any sound and it seems to go about 3 -> N times as fast.
Whoops, you have been using the diskwriter plugin, press ctrl + p and change the output plugin to either OSS or ESD. You might want to check the configuration for the diskwriter plugin, the path will contain a couple of well sized wavs.

OSS worked for me.
