Sony Vaio Ethernetcard not working

Hello,

I have recently installed RedHat Linux 7.2 on my Sony Vaio (VGn FS-660). When trying to establish a network connection to my LAN, the system would fail to activate my ethernet card : in the Network configuration box it would say " cannot activate network device eth0" . Can someone please help me with this.

Wow thats a nice (new) laptop why install such an old distro?
Post as root dmesg | grep eth0

I did dmesg | grep eth0 as root, it prints nothing.

You're pretty much out of luck unless you upgrade to a modern distro.

Thanks for your help. Do you know which distro would work?

Since you are a redhat user, the most suitable new distro is Fedora Core 3. The 2.6 kernel and hotplug will solve your problem.
