someone please guide me through the partitioning. asap!


i installed fedora core 1 earlier today and corrupted xp because i did something wrong. it lost the system 32 file.

can someone guide me through the partitioning? i have 1 big partition on xp.

whoaaa there buddy, lets see what happened. The first thing is did you kill your xp partition, and how did you install fedora? I suspect that XP is dead yeahhh! But that is not so good for your case now is it? if in XP get a list of partition types. I never used XP but I suspect that from a dos prompt type fdisk and then menu option 4 if in linux login as root and type fdisk /dev/hda where hda is your harddisk. you can find out your harddisk by typeing mount. find the one that says /dev/hda3 on / type ext3 (RW) this is the harddisk in the device directory. what you need to do is drop the number and substitute in the command fdisk /dev/hda then press p inside of fdisk this is the partition table. List it and post it.

i re-installed xp and fedora core 1 isnt on there any more, sorry. i just need step by step instructions on how to go through the partition part of the fedora core 1 install process

first you need space to install linux on go to http://mlf.linux.rulez.org/mlf/ezaz/ntfsresize2.html
for instructions then you need to install fedora
