Sleep/Standby/Hibernation on Mandrake 10

Im going to need to move my Compaq laptop here shortly, and rather than going through the trouble of shutting it down and rebooting, how can I either sleep, standby, or hibernate with it? I have ACPI built in the kernel (and working flawlessly). I do have one of the semi-blacklisted BIOS tables, which complicates things, since certain parts of sleep (I think) are disabled.

Using swsusp is a good alternative if you have problem with standard ACPI.
Else here's how to suspend to RAM:
echo -n mem >/sys/power/state
