SLAMD64 and wifi
Ok guys, im runnign a Compaq presario r4000 with an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ proc and no internal wifi. I have a D-Link AirPlus (DWL-G630) wireless PCI type III (PCMCIA) card and would like to be able to use it (or the built in realtek ethernet adaptor for that matter) in Slack. Im kinda new to modifying the kernel to add adaptors, as my previous exprience it was always noticed for me by the OS. Any help?

update:
i used ndiswrapper to get the drivers for it. using ndiswrapper -l says driver present and hardware present. all goes fine when i go to modprobe it, but using ifconfig or iwconfig wlan0 returns nothing. says wlan0 does not exist even after a reboot. is there something im doing wrong? |
'ifconfig wlan0 up' is what I needed to bring my ndiswrapper device up. I also had /etc/network/interfaces( Debian ) configured for SSID, WEP keys, chan #, dhcp/static IP, etc.
