Slackware Live-CD

Holidays are coming up so i thought i would try Slackware Live CD on my HP lappy (ze4281).
It all boots fine, USB mouse even works, but there's no input accepted from the keyboard??so it's like it does not even work or is not recognised.
I'm curious if it's hardware based as i've had problems with the keyboard functioning with XP Pro, once in DOS it did not work either. Problem has been random, when Mandrake was installed it seemed to work ok.

Thanks in advance.
