Slackware: How can I tell if my carbus/pcmcia ports are installed correctly?

I recently acquired an old toshiba satelite 2505CDS laptop. It has 2 pcmcia ports as so (ripped directly from the toshiba specs pdf): "

Two Stacked PC Card Slots: Holds two - 5mm PC Cards Type II or one - 10.5mm PC Card Type III.

Support Standards: Supports 32-bit, 3.3V PC CardBus cards and 16-bit, 5.0V PC card standards"

I was reading that the bios affects the configuration of the slots so i had three options available for controller mode: Auto-Selected, PCIC Compatible, and CardBus/16-bit

The carbus ports dont show up for PCIC Compatible

The output of lspci -v for Auto-Selected:

I am not sure if any of these are the right configuration. Slackware selects the pcmcia driver through probing so i'm not sure which it is using. Please help, im not sure whats going on.

I just tried out knoppix and doing a lspci -v came up with the same "unknown device 0001" thing. Yet my cardbus ethernet card worked fine. I dont know what's going on.

Well i've figured it out. Apparently i was loading my ethernet card module incorrectly before. Everything works great now. The unknown device 0001 things dont seem to matter. I'm sorry i bored you with my noobish questions. Hopefully someone else will learn from my mistakes.

Same Machine: Toshiba Satellite 2505CDS

Well, I have the same machine and the same problem, but I dont undestand the solution. I've installed a Slackware 10.2, but I cant use the network. How I solve this? eth0 is present and properly configured, but when I try to ping I see: connect: Network is unreachable. I do ifconfig eth0 down, but when I do up I see: SIOCSFFLAGS: Device or resource busy. How I solve this? Should I load one especific module? Thanks in advance...
