Slackware 13.0 & WICD - Slow wired connection, no wireless connection
Old problem solved now there is a new one.

I finally got WICD installed and running but the thing is my wireless will not connect to my router properly. My wireless card is working because it scans and picks up all of the available routers. I have yet to try to connect to an unencrypted router to see if that's the problem but I'll try that later and I'd rather have security for my personal router. I have entered all of the security properties but I see no place to enter my SSID because my router's is hidden. I did a search for hidden routers and I couldn't tell if it picked up my router or not (probably the one with the highest signal strength seeing as it's right next to me). But even then it wouldn't allow me to connect. The error I keep gettins is that it fails to obtain an IP address.

Also there is a secondary problem, the wired connection will let me connect to the internet; however, when I do the connection is extremely slow.

Could this be a driver problem or something that I'm not seeing?

As of Slackware 13.0, wicd is still in /extra, and not part of the base install. This means that, even if you chose the full install, it wouldn't have been included.

You would need to install it from the DVD, or download it from one of the mirrors.
