I am fairly new to linux and would really appreciate some help. I have a problem with sis630 graphics card on my laptop based on SIS motherboard with Intel CPU. The GFX card has shared memory with RAM and is set to 16384kByte at the moment. I have Xorg 6.9 version and seem to have latest sis_driver.so. GCC version is 4.0.1. I run glxinfo and get following results:
ERROR! sizeof(SISDRIRec) does not match passed size from device driver
libGL warning: 3D driver returned no fbconfigs.
libGL error: InitDriver failed
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: No
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.2
server glx extensions:
GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating,
GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_OML_swap_method, GLX_SGI_make_current_read,
GLX_SGIS_multisample, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig
client glx vendor string: SGI
client glx version string: 1.4
etc.
I have tried almost everything I can think of.
SISfb is running fine and compiled as a module. I have tried adding "MaxXFBMem" "16384" to device in xorg.config still no luck.
I am running Mandriva 2006 with 2.6.12 kernel
Can anyone please help.
Thanks a lot
Serge

I have this same issue... i'm using slackware 11 on a asus L2d laptop (SIS 630) with xorg 6.9 and kernel 2.6.18.1.
I've tried all the stuff listed on this foruns and i think this is a xorg 6.9 especific issue.
If you google for "ERROR! sizeof(SISDRIRec) does not match passed size from device driver" you will find several people with sis chipsets on diferent distros with this same problem... hope they (xorg) will fix this on future versions...
