Shutdown won't turn off laptop
Reboot, poweroff, whatever, the screen just turns black(not off) and hangs like that, at first it did that but after 10-15 seconds I'd just hit Enter and the laptop would poweroff(if I tried to hit enter before it would do nothing).
I'm running BackTrack 5 on Lenovo thinkpad t530 from live USB. |
What happens if you open a terminal, log in as root and
Code:
shutdown -h now |
Same, I think it all started when I installed acpi from apt-get, it also created deleted inode referenced errors when BT5 boots before I do startx

Anyone?

If you had a corrupted file-system this may cause your iisues, since essential data or parts of programs maybe simply got lost. I would try a re-install and may be a different OS than Backtrack. Backtrack is not aimed at desktop use so it may lack in these parts.

Never mind, reinstalled without the acpi package and now it's ok although it still requires me to hit enter for power shutdown, anouone knows why?
EDIT: adding noprompt at the end of the boot line fixes that |
