Shutdown stuck at PCMCIA

System: Dell Inspiron 1100
Distro: Suse 9.2, kernel 2.6.8-24, KDE 3.3.0
Dual Booting with Win XP
And I'm totally new to this OS.

Shutdown stuck at PCMCIA shutdown line so I have to hold down the power button to make it go off manually. This also happens when I try to restart.
Funny thing is: it doesn't happen all the time...

Thanks for your patience and help,
James Carruthers

Does it only do it when a particular card is inserted? What are the conditions present when this happens?

Aha!
I figured it out: I had a firewire device plugged in through a PCMCIA card and the device was still on when I tried to shutdown. When I shut the device off first then Suse shuts down nicely.
Thanks for helping me look at it more closely.
James
