Should I Upgrade to Fedora Core of Switch to Something Else??

Been using RH 7.3 on a Toshiba laptop for the past two years. No problems to speak of. Between semesters this summer I was thinking of upgrading to Fedora or even some other distribution.

Only thing that has never worked well is audio from streaming radio so there is really no compelling reason to do anything. However, I have a current problem with my WPC11 card which worked perfectly for the past year but suddenly stopped last week. Hardware still works in a Windows machine so the problem is probably some driver or something else. (sigh)

If I want to try Fedora core and don't like it how do I roll back to 7.3?

Thanking everyone in advance.

You could create restore CD's with something like mkCDrec (http://mkcdrec.ota.be/) to save off your RH7.3 setup. Then install whatever. If you don't like what in installed just wipe your harddrive and restore with your mkCDrec CD's.

Thanks. Looks like exactly what I need. Have you used it?

Yes.
I used it for fullback backups of my RH9 Desktop system.
I backup everything onto 2 to 3 CD-RW's.
I have done bare-metal restores with it.

Read the documentation carefully. Not that is difficult to use but if you don't do things the right way you could loss all your data.

Good. I'll go for it later this week. Is there some sort of compare function so that after you've made the backup you can make sure the backup was made correctly?

P.S. - do you know anyting about WPC11 and wlan-ng? See my posts at

Compare function? I didn't look. I am sure there is ... check the docs. One thing I noted in the install procedures I wrote for my user's was this ...
Code:
It is important to remove the line "/home/*" from the Config.sh file or you lose all of the home directories!!!

[root@localhost /]# cd /var/opt/mkcdrec/
[root@localhost mkcdrec]# cp Config.sh Config.sh.orig
[root@localhost mkcdrec]# vi Config.sh
[root@localhost mkcdrec]# diff Config.sh Config.sh.orig
36c36
< ISOFS_DIR=/backup
---
> ISOFS_DIR=/tmp/backup
158a159
> /home/*
If you stumble upon a good way to verify the backups let me know.
