sd card reader acer aspire one D255

I am having trouble getting udev to create /dev nodes when I insert my sd card from my camera. I am using Acer Aspire One D255 netbook. Here is the output from

Code:
lspci
Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation N10 Family DMI Bridge
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family PCI Express Port 1 (rev 02)
00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family PCI Express Port 2 (rev 02)
00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 02)
00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 02)
00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 02)
00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 02)
00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02)
00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e2)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation NM10 Family LPC Controller (rev 02)
00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH7 Family SATA AHCI Controller (rev 02)
00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family SMBus Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications AR8152 v1.1 Fast Ethernet (rev c1)
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1000
I think that USB2 may be the sd card device. When I insert the SD card, the output from
Code:
tail /var/log/messages
is

Code:
Aug 12 03:15:03 lion kernel: [ 9365.018377] usb 1-5: USB disconnect, address 10
Aug 12 03:15:11 lion kernel: [ 9373.719158] usb 1-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 11

Aug 12 03:15:11 lion kernel: [ 9373.834773] usb 1-5: SerialNumber: 606569746801
Aug 12 03:15:11 lion mtp-probe: checking bus 1, device 11: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-5"
Aug 12 03:15:12 lion mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 11 was not an MTP device
I am not sure how to interpret this; any help is much appreciated.

Acer machines seem to have problems with their sd card readers in general.
Try this page as a starting point and go from there.
