Scrolling on laptop using joystick (like in Windows)

I have a Lenovo laptop that has the following feature in Windows XP: holding down the middle mousepad button while pushing down on the joystick nub will scroll the screen down.

Is there a way to have this feature for when I run Linux on this laptop?

I am guessing that you have already tried under Linux, and it didn't work? What happened?

well, the middle mouse button (below the spacebar on the laptop) has no effect under Linux. I'm running KDE 3. Is there a way to enable what I'm talking about under KDE 3?

Cannot say for yours, but
I once had an HP that had a 'dedicated' scroll area on the touchpad.
I then got a Toshiba that didnt have one.

I missed it until I had Ubuntu running and realized that, if I have my finger HALFWAY on the right side of the pad it scrolls...
Dont know if it is a function of the PAD or the software, but...

You might wanna try that.

You need to add these to your xorg.conf under the section for the Trackpoint device.
Code:
    Option "EmulateWheel" "true"
    Option "EmulateWheelButton"	"2"
There may be a way to do it in the KDE Control Center too, but I'm not sure.
