[SOLVED] screen resolution too low after updating Ubuntu 11.04 on Pavilion dv6

My Pavilion dv6t-6100 laptop has a max resolution of 1920x1080. Everything worked fine on Ubuntu 11.04 until I installed the latest updates this evening. Now I can't set the screen resolution higher than 1280x1024.

How do I troubleshoot this?

I'd start by determining checking the video driver. Perhaps the new driver failed and you've been switched to the vesa driver.

Thank you for replying, RockDoctor. While trying to fix a different problem, I followed some advice in comment 27 of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...b2/+bug/699802. Reverting those changes fixed my screen resolution.
