Arrow Screen resolution problem - cant increase it

Hi
I have Dell Inspiron 6000 with ati radeon M300. As i installed FC5 i got the screen resolution as 1024 X 768. Increasing Screen resolution thru KDE Gui increases it but screen wraps (i.e. if i bring a window close to left corner it appears on right end as well .. also screen becomes unstable).

After much searching i followed steps mentioned in www . fedorafaq . org / #radeon (i cant post url so posted it like this). Now the problem is that in the Display option (in Control centre) i see 1024 X 768 and all lower possible resolution ... higher resolution options are gone.
Any help will be appreciated, considering my nubie status in linux.

Thanks in advance.

with PC Linux OS my radeon x600 doesnt run with the VENDOR->ATI->RADEON driver so i type video and go GENERIC->RADEON and then it works

I also think you have to get ATI's own drivers for acceleration as they are closed source and thus not shipped with linux
