Hi,
I am having a problem of installing SL5 on my laptop with AMD processor.
The installation completes, well i think, but then it does not work fine: it makes weird sounds and some programs crashes. I think some of the packages might have not installed properly.
So is SL supported in AMD-based laptops?
Hi,
[snip]
So is SL supported in AMD-based laptops?
cheers
SL is RHEL with very few modifications(like CentOS) so yes, AMD processors are supported.
The "laptops" is a different ball of wax, so to speak, especially since you did not provide any information about your laptop. :|
Check RHEL site for HCL if SL does not have a list.
SL is a version of Linux developed by Fermilab, CERN, and various other labs and universities worldwide. Its main purpose is to reduce the combined effort of laboratories, and have a common install base for the various experimenters. Our main goal for the base distribution is to have everything compatible with the company, with only a few minor additions or changes. An example of items that were added are Pine, and OpenAFS.
