Redhat 9.0 freezes on the install. I'm currently running Windows XP Professional. I tried Mandrake also, but it too freezes. I really want to put Linux on my notebook for a dual boot system. However, until I can install it I can't use it, obviously. Help is appreciated, and I will provide any further information needed. Thank you in advance.

I have a similiar notebook called the ProStar 8854. It s only about 8 months order but is identical in design. Mine has the Radeon 9000m and your the 9600. I don't now how redhet will see it. It might work fine. The sound is a little different, but should not have a problem. Forget the raid, that level is not worth anything. The reast looks standard.

Check out my site here: http://www.fullnet.com/u/crusher9/prostar.html
It is still very incomplete, but I tried to finish this part up to help you out. I may have missed a part or two. Just respond back under this forum if you have and questions. If you get it going please let me know how. I still have one quirk, the desktop freezes sometimes, but if you hit the switch that turns off the LCD screen for about 15 secs and then release it. It returns to normal use. I believe the patch-2.4.23-pre5 will fix that problem. I just have not had time to test it. Anything in the 2.4.22 patches cause a problem with Open GL programs they run extremely slow.

Good luck
