Running SuSe 9, and want to install Fedora on an external USB....

I am running Suse 9 on a IBM laptop. I want to install FEDORA on a external USB 120gig drive.
I thought of swapping laptop hard drives and booting up on the Fedora CD & installing it that way, but my gutt tells me there has to be a easier way.
I am so open to suggestions..
Thanks mates!

Try to install Fedora with the hd plugged in. It is possible to put Linux on a usb hd, but how easy it will be depends on whether the Fedora installation detects and lets you install on the usb hd. During install, tell Fedora to install bootloader to 'root partition'. SuSE can load it from there.
