Running out of /dev/`name` addresses to hot sync

I've tried every single /dev address I can think of the sync up my Palm m105. Its connected to my laptop's USB (according to syslog ttyUSB0 - usb/tts/0, but I'm not using devfs). I run gpilot to sync 'em up and it just stalls out...no connection. This is something I really want to fix cuz I wanna drop Linux onto the palm while I develop another OS for palms that a budy and I are working on. But this one has me stumped. I'm beginning to think that, maybe, the cradle is bad. Can anyone drop me a line as to what I may be doing wrong?

Thnx in advance,
Jeff

Make sure you have set the right permissions. If your account hasn't read-write acces to the device, nothing happens.
