running C/C++ and installing wireless card

I recently installed mandrak 9.1 on my laptop,

here are my problems,
1) how do i run C and C++ programs , ( i used cc / gcc to compile, but when i type a.out it says " bash : a.out command not found "

2) can i use my wireless card with linux , if yes how to do it.

3) I allocated 7 gb to linux , during installation i used auto allocation , it shows only 3 gb now ,

4) is there any quick start to mandrak ,
