RH9 install on KDS 376ch (SOTEC?)
Trying to install RH9 (dual boot w/ Windows XP) on a KDS Thinnote 376CH (I think it was made by SOTEC and KDS just slapped their name on it). I've had success running this setup on a desktop and an IBM Stinkpad, but I've run into problems with this one. I'm Hoping someone has a suggestion...
The only bootable devices on this computer are the hard drive and the external USB CDROM. I've been trying to load the linux setup from CD by booting up with the CD in the drive. Unfortunately, the only way to prevent the setup program from locking up when it tries to load the usb storage drivers during the very beginning of the setup is to disable the "legacy USB support" in the BIOS. (figured out that from this forum). The problem is when you do this the CDROM is no longer a bootable device so I can't boot into the linux setup program.
I think I'm dead in the water on this and I'm going to be stuck with XP, but I thought maybe someone might have a suggestion to try..
Thanks,
-JD
