Red Hat 9 install -strange- monitor problem

i tried several ways to get the install cd to start:
boot: linux lowres
boot: linux vga=2
boot: linux vga=ask
boot: linux noprobe
etc...
all with the same wierd result:

a blue-ish/white area coveres the screen from top sliding down until the screen is blank. then it slowly changes to shades of grey showing some kind of "moiré"-patterns...
i have no clue, seems like the video card gets a wrong resolution or refresh rate.
i also tried different settings in my system setup, to no avail...
can anyone please help me?
I want to install Linux !

my system:
clevo 2700c laptop, 256 RAM, the video card is a 'Sis'-something, HD=dual boot-partitionned with partition magic.

hello,
I didn't solve the problem yet but someone gave me a link to info on this (and maybe a solution?):
go here:
http://www.geocities.com/rhibling/li...clevo2200c.htm
I have to say, I'm new to Linux so it didn't really matter what distro I install so I just downloaded the Mandrake distribution, and I'm installing it now!
No problems so far...

cheers
