really small linux distro

hey all,
im trying to install a different distro onto my dad's eee pc

i was going with easypeasy but during the install found out that the sata ssd is only 2 gigs!

the thumb drive i was using was larger than that.

but beside the point. i was thinking i could give him an easy peasy install on an sd card or something of sort.

unless someone knows of a good netbook linux distro thats smaller than 2 gigs installed.

i havent looked into damn small linux because to my understanding thats only a desktop distro.

any recommendations anyone?

If I only had 2gb to work with I would probably choose SliTaz or Puppy.

Or, install a full-featured distro on an SD card, that's a good idea too.

You'll find a lot of good tips over at http://forum.eeeuser.com

Do a Puppeee Install.

It will fit on 2 gig surf.

Use the Puppeee-1.0-celeron.iso from

http://www.smokey01.com/jemimah/Puppeee1.0/

Extra packages can be got from

http://puppeee.com/files/sfs/

To make usb bootable

http://puppeee.com/web/download/

To install a .sfs at bootup

Quote:
How do I install Firefox, Skype, or some other large software package?
Download the SFS file and put in in /mnt/home (this is assuming you've done a frugal install). Go to Menu->System->BootManager and click Choose Which SFS Files to Load at Bootup. Select the SFS file you want to load and click Add. Then reboot.

For a full install, there is an SFS installer on the Utility Menu.

I will add more SFS files for download as time permits.
